By Bus
Air conditioned coaches and non-air-conditioned buses leave Bangkok's Northeastern Bus Terminal on Kamphaengphet 2 Road every day between 5.00 AM. and 10.00 PM. The ride is 8-9 hours.

By Car
From Bangkok, take Highway 1 (Phaholyothin) to Saraburi, at Km. 107 take Highway 2 (Friendship Highway) through Nakhon Ratchasima and Khon Kaen provinces to Udon Thani. Total distance: 562 kilometers.

By Rail
Several trains leave Bangkok's Hualampong Railway station daily for Udon Thani.


In the city of Udon
The tuk-tuks or samloh's are very popular in Udon Thani. Try to keep the negotiated price in the 30-40 baht range, unless the trip is quite long. If you get into the bus station early in the morning and need a guest house they will pretend they can't speak english, drive you around in a small circle 'looking' for guesthouses before dropping you around the corner from the station. They will then ask for 100 baht for a 30 baht ride.

By songthaew
Udon Thani has a bus-like network of numbered songthaews; cost is 10 baht per trip.

Taxi
As from november 2009 there is also meter taxi (luxury car).
